Trekking Tamango National Reserve

Departure from the Lodge towards this Nature Shrine. It will be one hour trek, bordering beautiful places during our route.

With wild vegetation and an environment that protects the animal symbol of the Chilean national emblem: the Huemul deer (hippocamelus bisulcus), this national reserve receives its name due to two hills that rises, imposing, in the middle of a breathtaking landscape. With 1722 m and 1485 m of altitude, "Tamango" and "Tamanguito" hills, respectively, are the greatest attractions, together with these noble animals.

With an eye-catching geography, the "Tamango" National Reserve presents undulating relieves perfectly combined with rocky spaces. This mountain range has also a relevant aspect due to its volcanic constitution.

The Tamango Lake National Reserve has a surface of 6,925 hectares and has one of the biggest population of huemul deer in their natural environment. These animals live in beautiful forests of lengas (Nothofagus Pumilio), in the higher area, and coigües (Nothofagus Donbey), on the lakeside.

Box-lunch on site and transport to Green Baker Lodge.
